More information about Franz von Durst
Our Franz von Durst Gin had not even been properly launched on the market when it was already awarded the gold medal at the World Spirit Awards 2019. The jury was impressed by the fruity, sweet taste of the gin.
In addition to juniper, we have focused on just five other botanicals, giving them a larger platform in terms of taste. The juniper takes a back seat both on the nose and on the palate. What remains, however, is its freshness, paired with the subtle note of elderberry.
Some people may be reminded of many other berries, as the elderberry, unlike the elderflower, has more of these berry notes than the sweetness we are used to from elderflowers. The liquorice in the gin provides a certain clayey, earthy aroma in the finish, which, together with the fruitiness of the gin and the hops, makes for a truly exciting taste experience.
In combination with the tonic water, the wonderfully bitter notes of the orange peel come into their own and round off the flavorful bouquet perfectly.
