More information about Moselaner Weisse 2020
The Freigeist Bierkultur brewery's range exclusively features unusual beers Simple classics and down-to-earth beers are long sought after here, instead Sebastian Sauer prefers to brew experimental craft beer with spectacular flavor pairings and complex aromas So we are not surprised that the exceptional brewer also puts his very own stamp on Berliner Weisse
Instead of making a flavored Berliner Weisse, the creative genius has rethought the entire concept of the beer style For this aroma-intensive experiment, the brewer has brought Sven Zerwas from Tiny Winery on board Together they have created an irresistible Berliner Weisse, which is acidified with fresh Mosel Verjus instead of the conventional Brettanomyces The juice from the unripe grapes of the Müller-Thurgau and Riesling varieties gives the beer its fine acidity and the character of a fine white wine
The unusual beer flows into the glass in a light golden hue and is adorned with a small crown of airy foam A bouquet of white grapes, green apple, tangy lemon and tart grapefruit emerges from the white splendor The first sip reveals a dry body that combines elegant lightness with substance and a full-bodied taste The Berliner Weisse is reminiscent of white wine with fruity acidity and dry notes of light grapes and lemon, while the hops bring balance and a hint of herbs into play
