More information about Schwäbisch Hall Dark Gin
The power and meaning of the color black are more contradictory than almost any other color. In psychology, black stands for threat, illness, fear and death - social aspects that are particularly relevant in the context of the current COVID pandemic. On the other hand, this dominant color is considered mysterious, seductive and elegant in a positive sense.
So it is no wonder that a feeling of curiosity, but also fear, can arise before tasting dark gin. Because at the end of the day, "Who's afraid of black... GIN!!!"
After distilling the dark gin and diluting it to drinking strength, liquorice chips are added for a few days to enrich the aroma spectrum with delicate notes of licorice. The unusual coloration is created by adding just one botanical: activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a natural and tasteless product that is used in medicine, among other things, but has no influence whatsoever on the flavor profile of the gin.
Note: If the gin is stored for a longer period of time, the activated charcoal particles sink to the bottom of the bottle. This has no effect on the quality or taste. Simply shake the bottle briefly before consumption and enjoy in a glass...
