More information about ILLIMANI Yanaloma Single Estate Organic Espresso Beans

This 100% organic Arabica coffee comes exclusively from the Yanaloma plantation. It has a full-bodied aroma with light citrus notes. The taste lingers for a pleasantly long time.

The coffee is fairly traded and organically grown. Ideally suited for use in portafilter machines and fully automatic machines as well as espresso pots (caffettiera).

Origin:

Bolivia, highlands (altitude 1400-1600m) Yanaloma, Apolobamba

Plantation:

Yanaloma

Producers and direct trade:

We receive the coffee directly from the importer. The importer has been working in partnership with Bolivian coffee farmers for over 28 years. The farmers call up the price for their harvest independently of the world market price. This is approximately double the average world market price.

Cultivation:

Yanaloma coffee is a single estate coffee and grows in the Yanaloma plantation in the Apolobamba region north of Lake Titicaca in the department of La Paz. This area is remote and takes about eleven hours by car from La Paz.

The plantation is located south of the Madidi National Park, where most of South America's biodiversity can be found. This national park is a three-hour drive from the plantation. The climate of the region is subtropical with many rainy days and is ideal for coffee cultivation due to the cool nights.

The altitude of the plantation is between 1400 and 1600 meters, the coffee beans in the plantation are picked by hand by the locals. The coffee is produced without pesticides and insecticides and is certified organic.

At the request of the farmers, our colleague invested in this plantation to improve the cultivation techniques, a uniform washing system and the construction of drying facilities (marquesinos). In this way, we obtain very high quality coffee beans.

Processing:

The beans are processed in Zwolle, the Netherlands, in a roasting plant specializing in top-quality coffee using a gentle, slow drum roasting process.
