More information about mettermalt® PUR Whisky Anniversary Edition
The mettermalt® PUR whisky is a regional anniversary edition to mark the 625th anniversary of the Fessler Mühle and 40 years of PUR.
Two regional landmarks celebrated their birthdays in 2021: the band PUR turned 40 and the Fessler Mühle celebrated its 625th anniversary. Both are known far beyond the district of Ludwigsburg and the country, as well as being closely connected and rooted in their homeland, Bietigheim - the home of the band PUR, is just 15 minutes away from Sersheim, the home of the Fessler Mühle and fesslermill1396 distillery.
The single malt whisky is made from pure regional barley malt, which is milled in the company's own 625-year-old Fessler mill using old-fashioned craftsmanship on a grist mill dating back to 1870. The distillate is then matured for 4 years in short oak barrels made from American white oak in the distillery's warehouse. Domestic water from the local alwa spring is used for the whisky, and the production process is climate-neutral thanks to the distillery's own hydropower and photovoltaics. The whisky has a natural color, is unfiltered and the template for the label was hand-drawn in Hohenhaslach, another village next to Sersheim. The whisky scored 90.5 out of 100 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2022 and was awarded 20/20 points and gold in the state award in 2023.

fesslermill 1396
At the edge of the Stromberg, surrounded by the Donnersberg, Klosterberg and Kirchberg, the Fessler Mill has stood in Sersheim an der Metter for over 620 years. For many generations, the millers of the Fessler Mill have been involved in agriculture and the cultivation of grain as well as its refinement. Orchard meadows and the cultivation of berries, fruits or special crops such as elderberry have a long tradition. Even the grandfathers had their own fruit processed into fine distillates or produced excellent apple and pear cider in the cellar of the Fessler Mill. For 50 years, the master millers of the Fessler Mill themselves and selected farmers of the region have been cultivating and processing special and distinctive types of grain such as Bauerländer Spelz, oats, rye or spelt. Care is always taken to ensure that nature and the miller with his mill, distillery and bakery are in...
