No 615 Chinese Jasmine - Spirit

Jasminum officinale, the true or common jasmine, is one of over 600 flowering plants in the olive family. Originally from the Himalayas, Kashmir and southern China, the plant is now also cultivated in Spain, France and Romania. The perennial climber is known for its white flowers with their intense honey-like, sweet-floral fragrance with fruity-herbal notes and is of great importance for the perfume industry, in aromatherapy or for the production of jasmine tea.

The edible flower buds have found their way into kitchens and bars, both fresh and dried. They are most commonly used in desserts, as well as teas, but also in spice blends to enhance the floral notes of a dish. They can be perfectly combined with anise seed, basil, ginger, pink berries and white pepper. Cocktail variations include the Jasmine Fizz or the Jasmine Martini.

Our spirit of jasmine allows the exact dosage, saves the sometimes time-consuming production of jasmine oil, syrup or aqueous jasmine extract. More than 100 substances of the essential oil of the flowers are responsible for the typical jasmine scent. Among others, it contains jasmone, anthranilic acid methyl ester, indole, phytol, benzyl alcohol, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate and linalool. Jasmine flowers have the highest content of these substances at night, which is why their harvest takes place then. An experienced picker can pick 10,000 to 15,000 flowers in one night. This also explains the proud price of jasmine oil, which is said to have aphrodisiac properties, among other things.
