Schwechow's best sloe brandy - The sloe (also known as blackthorn) is not only a popular source of nectar for numerous butterflies. Schwechow's sloe brandy is lovingly produced by hand and is reminiscent of almonds and a hint of roasted aromas on the palate.
Blackthorn often grows in the company of juniper, barberry, hazelnut, wild roses and hawthorn. Sloes are also at home on the dunes by the Baltic Sea. The fruits are ripe in early fall, but are only harvested after the first frost. The frost causes some of the bitter-tasting and astringent tannins in the fruit to be broken down enzymatically.
In our spirits, the alcohol does not come from the fermentation of the fruit, but from the use of neutral alcohol. Due to their low sugar content, the fruits used for the spirits are not suitable for fermentation, but they do have a lot of aroma.
By soaking the fruit in neutral alcohol, the aromatic substances can pass into the alcohol. This is followed by distillation.

Schwechow fruit distillery
Schwechow Manor is a historic estate built in 1229, which today houses the Schwechow Fruit Distillery. The distillery produces fine fruit brandies, spirits, liqueurs and gin and is located in the heart of the Mecklenburg Elbe Valley Nature Park. The distillery originally dates back to the 18th century. Today, high-quality spirits are produced here under the motto "Preserve tradition, shape the future", including many in limited editions. Our fruit brandies, spirits and liqueurs are made from the best and most aromatic fruit. The estate's lovingly restored former pigeon house houses Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's first fruit capper distillery.
