More information about Steamworks Brewing Co. craft lager
A fabulous selection of five different hop varieties provide flavor in this excellent lager.
With its Craft Lager, the Austrian-Canadian brewery Steamworks Brewing has added a beer to its range that is both strong in character and quaffable. The lager presents itself in a clear golden hue and is crowned by a handsome amount of white foam. An enticing aroma of sun-dried straw, freshly mown grass, gently roasted grain, herbaceous hops and spicy resin rises to the nose from the foam crown. The finish lives up to the promise of the aroma: Aromas of herbs, grain, tangy citrus zest, grassy cut and floral hops caress the palate. The interplay of flavors is accompanied by a pleasant bitterness that perfectly balances the sweetness. A soft texture and medium-weight twill give the beer a delightful sweetness, and the mild carbonation supports this effect. The finish adequately rounds out the beer's enjoyment: dry and crisply bitter, the flavor components linger on the tongue for a long time and make you very much want another bottle.
An expertly balanced lager that comes up trumps with hoppy diversity.

When their grandfather moved from Austria to Canada in the 1930s and his sister stayed behind in Vienna, they had no idea that their two grandsons would one day enter the beer business. It took another two generations before the Austrian-Canadian musical family sprouted a brewer: Eli, who discovered a love of beer during his trip to Europe and learned the brewing trade without further ado, bought the Gastown Brewpub. The venerable building housed a real treasure: a steam heating system. The technique of steam brewing dates back to pioneer days and was rarely practiced by the end of the 20th century. Eli showed a spirit of discovery and revived a long-forgotten tradition. Canada's first steam brewery was born and brewing could begin!
