More information about Steamworks Brewing Co. flagship IPA
This IPA rightly bears the name flagship: It has already won several prestigious awards and also tastes incomparably good. Three highly aromatic hop varieties and no less than four different malts ensure a wide-ranging palette of aromas that has everything in its repertoire from exotic fruits to salty caramel to make the expert beer drinker happy.
Flagship flows into the glass in a cloudy golden hue and forms an airy, lightly tinted head. As soon as the bottle is opened, the beer exudes an enticing aroma of juicy pineapple, bitter grapefruit, tangy citrus and melt-in-your-mouth toffee. The finish presents a delightfully rich texture that comes from the oat malt used, giving the light-bodied beer a powerful body. A cornucopia of fruity flavors washes over the palate and treats the tongue to notes of ripe mango, sweet pineapple, refreshing lime and delicious passion fruit. The malt provides a soft, caramel base to the fruit explosion and contributes subtle toasty aromas and a luxurious creaminess. The bitterness, which increases toward the end, floats above the action and beautifully balances sweetness, acidity and fruitiness. The finish is decidedly bitter, but at the same time reveals a subtle mango note that harmonizes very well with the bitterness.
The Flagship IPA from Steamworks Brewing is an outstanding IPA that is a must try!

The venerable building housed a real treasure: a steam heating system. The technique of steam brewing dates back to pioneer days and was rarely practiced by the end of the 20th century.
