More information about Steamworks Brewing Co. Jasmine IPA

The fine, snow-white flowers of jasmine exude a beguiling fragrance that transports you to distant lands with its gentle exoticism and awakens dreams of balmy summer nights and adventures.

What does this have to do with beer? Quite a lot!

The Canadian brewery Steamworks now brews its delicious beer not only in Vancouver and Burnaby, but also in Berlin. Fabulous creations are produced across the continents, delighting beer connoisseurs worldwide. One of these creations is their Jasmine IPA, a cold-hopped beer that contains two types of malt and three types of hops as well as a generous portion of jasmine flowers. Anyone who now thinks that flowers and beer are not a good combination should urgently take a big sip of this beer!

Steamworks Jasmine IPA already impresses with its appearance: the pale beer flows into the glass like liquid gold and is crowned by a delicate veil of white foam. A tantalizing aroma of floral hops, tangy citrus fruits and fine malt combines with the unmistakable aroma of jasmine blossom on the nose. The first sip reveals a light-footed body with a dry aroma and expertly balanced bitterness. Initially, refreshing notes of citrus fruit, pine needles and green tea wash over the tongue. A portion of soft caramel balances out the freshness with a lovely sweetness, while the hops also contribute a crisp bitterness that intensifies towards the end. The exotic taste of jasmine flowers runs like a red thread through the drinking experience and makes the beer the perfect accompaniment to spicy dishes.

Steamworks Brewing Co.

When their grandfather moved from Austria to Canada in the 1930s and his sister stayed behind in Vienna, they had no idea that their two grandsons would one day enter the beer business. It took another two generations before the Austrian-Canadian musical family sprouted a brewer: Eli, who discovered a love of beer during his trip to Europe and learned the brewing trade without further ado, bought the Gastown Brewpub. The venerable building housed a real treasure: a steam heating system. The technique of steam brewing dates back to pioneer days and was rarely practiced by the end of the 20th century. Eli showed a spirit of discovery and revived a long-forgotten tradition. Canada's first steam brewery was born and brewing could begin! From Canada to Austria Not wanting to add steam to the Canadian beer scene, but also a breath of fresh air, Eli made regular trips to the homeland of his...
