More information about Viuda Negra
Beer style: Imperial Black IPA
In itself, the black widow is not a particularly dangerous spider: it is not aggressive and remains peaceful in its web as long as it is not provoked However, because its venom is potentially deadly, it has an extremely bad reputation It is also bad for the image that the females of this insect species sometimes eat the males after mating This behavior is rather rare and yet the spider is traded as the animal equivalent of the man-killing femme fatale
The brewers at the Spanish brewery Cierzo are fascinated by the wicked portrayal of the black widow in the media and have been inspired by her to create a beer Their Viuda Negra is a dangerously drinkable Imperial Black IPA that lures you into its net with delicious chocolate notes and strong roasted aromas, only to bring you around the corner shortly afterwards with a stately 8.0 %.
A cornucopia of different malts gives the beer a voluminous body and a smooth, silky mouthfeel A positive side effect is the full-bodied notes of melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, creamy caramel and dark roasted grain, which go perfectly with the crisp bitterness of the Chinook hop variety used
Will this black widow cost you your head? Viuda Negra is so delicious that it's definitely worth trying!
