Cousiño-Macul

The Cousiño-Macul winery is without a doubt one of the most prestigious names in Chilean winemaking. Founded in 1856, it is still managed by the Cousiño family. This makes it the oldest winery in Chile still owned by the founding family. The cellar in Macul, built in the founding period, is one of the most impressive wine cellars in the world: at a depth of 7 meters, the ancient limestone walls guarantee a constant temperature of 14 °C and a humidity of 75% - almost perfect conditions for the maturation of the wines. In the meantime, the winery has been expanded by two additional locations: not far from the Pacific Ocean, the fresh, fruit-driven wines are produced in Alhué, while the elegant long-lived wines are made in Buin (Alto-Maipo).
