South Africa's Franschhoek is marked by the European colonial era and impresses with magnificent country estates from the "Gründerzeit". The estate was founded in 1690 by Huguenots who had fled from France. It owes its current name to the majestic "blue" eucalyptus trees that grace the estate's driveway.
In 1999, the Dauphin family of German entrepreneurs acquired the ALLÉE BLEUE estate, which at that time was still known as MEERRUST. With a lot of pioneering spirit, they revitalized the estate, which was founded in 1690 and has an area of 150 hectares and had not produced a noble drop for over 100 years. Today the red and white wines of ALLÉE BLEUE are internationally recognized and belong to the top class.
The vines we cultivate thrive on sandstone soils interspersed with shell limestone. Combined with the almost Mediterranean climate and the abundance of sunshine hours they enjoy, the grapes achieve optimal fruit concentration. The result is the unmistakable berry flavor of our wines, which delights wine lovers worldwide.
We rely on manual labor and a balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to perfect our wines.
Brilliant!
