More information about Bonpland Rum Rouge
The rum is named after Humboldt's traveling companion and friend: Aime Bonpland was a French doctor and naturalist who set off on a voyage of discovery through America with Alexander von Humboldt in 1799. Aime Bonpland discovered the Old and New World with curiosity.
The name Bonpland is therefore perfectly suited to this rum: a rum that combines the exotic aroma of the Caribbean with fine German craftsmanship and fine German wine barrels, such as the Pinot Noir barrique barrels from the VDP Friedrich Becker winery in the Palatinate.
The Avadis distillery discovered suitable rums for its Bonpland rum, which is a blend of rums from different countries, in the Caribbean and South America. They found what they were looking for in Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, Guatemala and Nicaragua. The rum comes from the countries of origin already barrel-aged and matures further in the border triangle in a second maturation process in German wine barrels, where top-quality Burgundy was originally stored. This transforms the blend into a fine rum.
Bonpland rum does not contain any added sugar or colorants. This rum is also bottled without chill filtration.
