More information about Trappistes Rochefort 6
In the series of Trappist beers from Brasserie Rochefort, number 6 is the oldest. For centuries, it has been brewed according to an old recipe by the monks of the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy. Only beers that are actually still produced by Trappist monks can be described as an authentic Trappist product. Trappistes 6 meets all the criteria and proudly bears the title.
Despite its impressive alcohol content of 7.5%, number 6 is the weakest of the Brasserie Rochefort Trappist beers: Trappistes 8 and Trappistes 10 are even more powerful. Compared to German beers, the Belgian colleagues would definitely be categorized as strong beers; in Belgium, such high percentages are quite normal. But Trappistes 6 scores not only with its punch, but also with a whole truckload of flavor.
The unfiltered beer flows into the glass in the rusty brown color of chestnuts and is almost clear and shiny. A thick crown of airy, lightly tinted foam sits atop the copper-colored beer and exudes a delightful aroma of heavy, ripe summer fruits, subtle licorice and good whiskey. The first sip reveals a voluminous body with a creamy texture and lively carbon dioxide. On the palate, Trappistes 6 delights with a fantastic blend of soft caramel, ripe fruit, fresh yeast dough and a hint of black tea.
Spicy, strong and aromatic - that's how we know and love Belgian beers!
