Craft beer from the north.
What is taken for granted in the south of Germany is often sought in vain in the far north: good, craft-brewed beer with heart and character. Sure, you can get beer on every corner in Hamburg, but discerning connoisseurs of barley juice often had to make concessions in the past. Industrially produced mass-produced goods had flooded the beer market and swept smaller competitors off the scene. Fortunately, the craft beer revolution eventually reached the north and brought Hamburg a number of fabulous breweries. Among them is Buddelship, a brewery that has set itself the goal of reviving real, handmade beers.
Kohlentrimmer is a black beer from Buddelship that impresses us with its dark notes. The beer presents itself in a deep dark mahogany color in the glass and forms a fine, hazelnut-brown head. A potpourri of aromas rises from the foam, consisting of the scent of freshly roasted coffee beans and the aroma of room-warm dark chocolate. On the tongue, Kohlentrimmer has a velvety mouthfeel and a full-bodied taste, to which lively carbon dioxide lends a certain lightness. On the palate, the black beer enchants with a good portion of malt. Roasted caramel notes meet coffee and chocolate on the tongue, with a wonderful bitterness accompanying the interplay of aromas.
Kohlentrimmer is full-bodied, spicy and delicately bitter with hops - an extremely successful black beer that tastes particularly good with hearty dishes.
