In 1395, the oldest ancestors of today's Fassbind family settled in the beautiful region of Urschweiz and began to cultivate wild cherry trees. Thanks to the knowledge of alchemy practiced in many monasteries, they were soon able to produce an excellent distillate: KIRSCH. Kirsch is made from juicy, fully ripe cherries and is still a national specialty of Switzerland. In 1846, at the age of 17, Gottfried Fassbind II founded the "Godefroi Fassbind, jeune, Distillerie de Kirschwasser" in Oberarth in the canton of Schwyz, which gives its name to the whole country of "Switzerland". This was the beginning of a successful history of the oldest distillery in Switzerland, which has already been honored with numerous awards during its long existence.
