The L'Avenir Single Block Pinotage 2021 comes from the renowned Block 2 - a special single vineyard at the highest point of the estate. The vines were planted in 1994 and grow on Glenrosa soils with a high slate content - perfect conditions for a Pinotage with depth and character.
"After careful hand-picking, only the best grapes were processed. The wine matured in 300-liter French oak barrels, of which around 15% were new wood. Only the 14 best barrels were finally selected for the final cuvée.
A complex interplay of aromas of violets, dried cranberries and dark chocolate unfolds on the nose. On the palate, the wine is multi-layered, juicy and elegant, with notes of fresh cherries and a fine, sweetish spiciness. The finish is long and balanced - typical of the finest Stellenbosch Pinotage.
An excellent accompaniment to duck, poultry or mature cheese - or a pleasure on its own for special occasions.
