The Muratie Ansela van de Caab is a rich and velvety red wine that impresses with its dense structure and complexity. It was created with a long ageing period in mind, but thanks to its harmoniously integrated tannins, it already offers an accessible drinking experience.


Aromas of concentrated dark fruits such as blackcurrant and cassis characterize the bouquet. A fine herbal note of tea leaves gives the wine additional freshness, while spicy wood nuances such as sandalwood and cigar box provide further facets.

This exceptional red wine cuvée made from Cabernet Sauvignon (59%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Petit Verdot (6%) is named after Ansela van de Caab, a woman with a remarkable story. She was born into slavery in the Cape Colony and worked in the Company's Gardens until she gained her freedom in 1695. In that year, Laurens Campher brought her to Muratie - along with her three children - and made the estate her home.



Thanks to its powerful structure and rich aromas, the Muratie Ansela van de Caab is the ideal companion for hearty dishes. It harmonizes particularly well with matured beef, lamb or game.
