More information about Schönramer Zwickl
Zwickelbier, affectionately abbreviated to Zwickl in Bavaria, is a beautiful and delicious part of German beer history. Traditionally, the brewer taps the beer directly from the barrel in the so-called Zwickel using a Zwickel tap to test whether the beer is ready as it matures. At some point, breweries began to share this delicacy, which was actually reserved for the team, with their customers and to bottle very fresh Zwickel beer. Today, many traditional breweries have such a Zwickel in their range, including the Private Landbrauerei Schönram.
Its Zwickl flows into the glass in a slightly cloudy old gold color and is adorned with an ivory head. A fresh nose of hops, orange peel and toffee invites you to start drinking. This reveals a full body with gently roasted grain, creamy caramel, notes of orange zest and stone fruit, herbs and a hoppy tartness. The aroma is balanced, sweet, subtly bitter and wonderfully round.
The classic cellar beer is now available in handy 0.33 liter bottles. The brew is neither filtered nor pasteurized and comes to you unfiltered and delicately cloudy. To fully enjoy all the ingredients, you can swirl the bottle briefly as you would when pouring a Hefeweizen - this dissolves the sediment and distributes the good taste throughout the beer.
