More information about Pusser's Rum 15 Years
Pusser's Rum is the only authentic and original Royal Navy rum created to the specifications of the British Navy. From the 17th century, the Royal Navy issued daily rum rations, known as 'tot', on board ships. The sailor responsible for handing out the daily rum ration was called the "purser" by the sailors, better known colloquially as the "pusser".
The pusser was often suspected of having watered down the valuable rum. To prove otherwise, he would mix a few grains of gunpowder into the rum and try to ignite it. If the rum ignited, it was considered "at proof".
Pusser's Rum 15 Years is the finest and longest matured quality and highlights the exceptional notes and smoothness of the Pusser brand.

Pusser's Rum
The history of rum in the Royal Navy was largely one of social change, both in Britain and in the Royal Navy. From 1650 to the 18th century, life on board was incredibly difficult. The day's edition of Pusser's Rum was the highlight of the day. The rum issue, one of the longest and unbroken traditions in the history of seafaring, ended when the last drink of Pusser's was drunk aboard their Majesties' ships. Around the world in every ship of the Navy, glasses were raised in final salute. "The Queen!" they said, and it is no exaggeration to say that at that moment many a strong man shed a tear as such an old and beautiful tradition passed away, to be no more. But the rum lives on! Enjoy today Original Pussers Navy Rum, which still surrounds the aura of history and the adventures of seafaring.
