More information about Organic Basque chili
This chili is also known as Piment d'Espelette and originally comes from Mexico. Legend has it that a companion of Christopher Columbus brought the plants to the Nive Valley in the French Basque Country.
Basque chilli impresses with its unique aromas and light, always pleasant heat. Its aroma is similar to that of paprika, which is also reflected in the taste, paired with a wonderful mouthfeel. The enjoyment of the powder-fine flakes is crowned by their color, which can also be used for decorative purposes.
Using Basque chilli flakes in a targeted way
This type of chilli is perfect for enhancing and seasoning dishes. Of course, you can also spice up your tomato sauce with allspice d'Espelette, but the Basque chilli is much more effective as a topping on sauces or creamy soups. A few quick ideas:
- on a (grilled) pineapple or mango with a little fleur de sel
- on potatoes, fish, beef or chicken
- on vanilla or chocolate ice cream
- with cheese
