This pleasantly mild single malt first matures for around half a decade in American white oak barrels, developing its characteristic aromas of vanilla and caramel. It is then transferred to barrels that previously contained the famous rum from the Caribbean island of Jamaica. This rum is known for its strong and spicy aromas, which it develops during its long maturation period in wooden barrels.
The finish in the rum cask allows the Slyrs single malt whisky to absorb the typical rum aromas in addition to its own aromas, making it a true masterpiece from the Bavarian whisky specialists. Some casks that previously contained the Caribbean rhum agricole are also used for the finish, giving the whisky additional nuances of exotic fruits and spices.
