Spier 21 Gables Pinotage 2017 Magnum - Expressive elegance in large format
"
The Spier 21 Gables Pinotage 2017 in a magnum bottle is a true masterpiece of South African winemaking. The grapes come from dry-farmed vineyards on the slopes of Stellenbosch overlooking False Bay - ideal conditions for small, concentrated berries with intense fruit and dense structure.
In the glass, the wine glows a deep ruby red with lively reflections. The bouquet combines caramelized black cherries, blackberries, dark chocolate and spicy notes. On the palate, the Pinotage is full-bodied, balanced and silky with dense fruit and smooth tannins. The finish is long and elegant - a wine with excellent ageing potential.
The wine was aged for 20 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak, 70% in new barriques. The result: a powerful, multi-layered wine with depth and sophistication.
An excellent accompaniment to matured beef, game, lamb or strong cheese - ideal for festive occasions or as a mature rarity in your own cellar.
