More information about Spier Frans K Smit 2018
The Spier Frans K Smit Red Blend is a powerful Bordeaux cuvée from South Africa, named after the long-standing winemaker Frans K. Smit. The cuvée is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot - all grapes come from selected single vineyards in the renowned Helderberg region.
"In the glass, the red wine is an intense, bright ruby red. The bouquet is expressive and elegant with ripe red fruit, violets and a hint of mint chocolate. On the palate, it delights with dark berries, floral notes, fine spice and silky tannins, which give the wine an excellent structure.
The wine was matured with the utmost care: after harvesting, the grapes were selected twice by hand, fermented at a controlled temperature and then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The result is a red wine with plenty of depth, natural freshness and enormous ageing potential.
Enjoy this exceptional red wine with aromatic game, fillet or mature cheese - or simply on its own on a special occasion. The Spier Frans K Smit is a wine with format that will develop magnificently over many years.
