More information about Historic spelt beer
Spelt has had an eventful history For a long time, the grain was prized for its good taste and versatile uses, but the somewhat more complex cultivation of spelt caused it to fall into oblivion During the Renaissance, the grain was briefly rediscovered, only to disappear again Today it is back in fashion: spelt is a popular alternative to wheat and is used for bread, pastries, noodles and all kinds of other purposes, it can even be used to make coffee
The Veldensteiner brewery also uses the grain, but not for its coffee The brewers make a delicious beer from it, based on an old, traditional recipe Their historic spelt beer is a naturally cloudy specialty in cloudy gold The noble drop has an alcohol content of 5.6% and an aromatic bouquet of barley and spelt malt, A malty aroma rises from the creamy foam, bringing notes of light grain and honey to the nose The first sip reveals a tangy beer with a subtle hop bitterness The balanced malt notes are accompanied by a light fruitiness and hints of roasted nuts
If you would like to discover a different side of spelt, we recommend the Historical Spelt Beer from Veldensteiner! A hearty pleasure
