The Yamazaki 18 Year Old is Suntory’s most internationally acclaimed standard bottling—a blend (vatting) of malt whiskies that have been aged for at least 18 years in a combination of American oak, European sherry casks, and the distinctive Mizunara oak.
This expression, which was launched in the 1990s, gained worldwide recognition when it was named “World’s Best Whisky” in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible in 2015 —a milestone that accelerated its transformation from a connoisseur’s favorite to a coveted collector’s item. The interplay between extended maturation in a humid climate and the spicy, sandalwood-like character of Mizunara oak defines the house’s unmistakable style in this age category.
