More information about Alto Rouge 2019
The Alto Rouge glows a powerful shade of red in the glass. The wonderful aroma reveals aromas of red fruits, accompanied by fynbos, a hint of cedar and undertones of mocha. Fresh fruit notes characterize the taste, with cherry being particularly present. Light spicy and mineral nuances add the finishing touches to this cuvée of Cabernet Franc (32%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Merlot (15%), Shiraz (15%) and Petit Verdot (8%). Enjoy this elegant and well-balanced red wine with its fine tannins on its own. Grilled chicken or beef, lamb or mature cheese are also an excellent choice with the Alto Rouge, which has matured for fourteen to sixteen months in French and American oak.

ALTO Wine Estate
Alto is a farm with a rich history that lives up to its status as one of the most iconic wineries in the Western Cape Winelands. The first title deeds date back to 1693, but it was not until 1919 that the farm was fully dedicated to viticulture. Alto stretches along the steep northern slopes of the Helderberg and for nearly a century has built a reputation as one of the most respected red wine producers in South Africa.
