More information about Grampsas Verdea Traditional

The Venetian influence on Zakynthos is responsible for the name “Verdea,” which comes from the Italian word “verde,” meaning “green,” and refers to the green color of the nearly unripe grapes that were used at the time. Verdea first appeared in the early 16th century and became synonymous with the island’s subsequent winemaking history.

On the nose, aromas of lemon blossoms, citrus fruits, bergamot, jasmine, and white-fleshed fruits are discernible. Notes of vanilla, sweet spices, and a peppery hint of ginger round out the bouquet. It pleasantly surprises with its acidity on the palate. Its aging potential is particularly interesting.

Grape Varieties: Skiadopoulo , Goustolidi, Rompola, Pavlos, Areti, Laganthi, Makrypodia, Xylopodia.

Winemaking / Aging: Pre-fermentation maceration in a controlled environment, with the grapes remaining in contact with their juice separately for 7 days each (skin contact). Alcoholic fermentation at graduated temperatures. 12-month aging in third-use French oak barrels with light toasting. The wine remained on the lees for 12 months with regular stirring.

Pairsperfectly with fish, white meat, pasta, and cheese.

Grmpsas Winery
