Gin with depth - Why even the water is exceptional at B8B
The world of gin is full of exciting stories, creative compositions and ambitious start-ups. But among all the new labels, B8B stands out - not only because of its unusual combinations of ingredients, but also because of an ingredient that otherwise hardly gets any attention: Water.
From event hall to distillery
The man behind B8B is Sven Battmer - originally from an event technology background, but with a nose for good ideas and a heart for good taste. Together with a small team, he transformed an old hall in Feldkirchen into an independent distillery. The impulse came one evening with friends at a rather boring event: why not make your own gin - but in a different way?
"Just do it - it might turn out well," was the motto. And the idea quickly turned into a philosophy: handcrafted, innovative, high-quality - and above all: with special water.

B8B stands for maximum quality with a maximum of 8 botanicals per gin
Water that makes the difference
While many distilleries rely on normal tap water, B8B goes its own way. Only selected spring waters such as St. Leonhard's spring or the Taunus spring are used for production - both brands that are usually found in high-end restaurants.
The result? A significantly softer taste that is otherwise rarely found in the world of gin. In blind tastings with up to 20 different waters, it quickly became clear that the choice of water changes the flavor - sometimes massively. "We work with a water sommelier and are constantly discovering new and exciting effects," says Sven. Depth, in the truest sense of the word.
Creativity in bottle form
B8B also shows courage with the varieties: raspberry-pepper-honey or mandarin hops are just two examples. The gins are high-proof, drinkable neat and yet surprisingly smooth. Each recipe is based on a maximum of eight carefully selected ingredients - a concept that not only ensures clarity of taste, but is also part of B8B's philosophy. Some variants even mature for 12 months in whiskey barrels, thus combining two worlds.

It's not just the equipment in the distillery that is of the highest quality - Sven and the B8B team also work with a water sommelier
The production? Completely by hand. From distilling and bottling to labeling - the team does everything themselves. "We want to remain independent, be able to react spontaneously - and above all have fun doing what we do."
What's next?
If you think that's it, you're wrong. B8B is planning its own tonic, new limited editions and an aperitif. The ideas are often born on the very evenings that started it all: a little crazy, but full of passion.
