More information about No 405 Moldovan walnut
The Germanic peoples called the neighboring peoples with Romanic roots "Welschen". These had brought them into contact with the walnut, to which they gave the name "Welschnuss" to distinguish it from the native hazelnut, from which the German name "Walnuss" goes back.
The walnut tree rightly bears the Latin epithet "regia" for "royal", as it is a true miracle tree: its leaves are used as a traditional herbal medicine for baths and poultices due to their tannin content, the green walnut shells are also used to make liqueurs and as a hair dye, and the cold-pressed oil from its kernels is used in cooking and the cosmetics industry. And last but not least, the delicious walnut kernels are enjoyed as a versatile and healthy food.
In the fertile black earth soils of Moldova, walnut trees thrive magnificently and adorn the landscapes in seemingly endless walnut avenues. From there we have sourced the organic walnuts for our special walnut spirit, whose aromas are based on various aliphatic alcohols and aldehydes produced by oxidative degradation of the polyunsaturated fatty acids contained in the walnuts. We recommend it for pure enjoyment, for salad dressings and desserts or for mixing.
