Without question, when we think of Mexican spirits, mezcal or tequila come to mind first. But besides these two flagships, the Central American country has many more great distillates to offer. Rum, for example. And here we want to turn the spotlight on the bottlings of Ron Libertad, a joint brand of eight sugar cane farmers and their families from the state of Chiapas. What's special about this rum is that it's made from 100 percent freshly pressed sugarcane juice. This purism has given us a powerful, unripened Mexican that we took to our hearts right from the first time we got to know it. It repays us with fresh, fruity aromas on the nose and palate.
