More information about Schwärzla
Black as night and devilishly good
We used to think that the English with their stout were the undisputed masters of deep black, full-bodied beers, but this beer from the Franconian brewery Kundmüller definitely gives its British counterparts a run for their money!
Weiherer's Schwärzla is an aroma-intensive beer specialty with an alcohol content of 5.3% that not only tastes great to us The judges of the International Craft Beer Awards have showered this fabulous dark beer with prizes for two consecutive years
Schwärzla flows into the glass in a deep black mahogany hue and forms a stately, hazelnut-brown head A tantalizing aroma of freshly ground coffee and sweet, dried plums rises from the fine-pored, creamy head Roasted aromas and dark fruit combine to create a seductive potpourri The first sip delivers what the aroma has already promised: Schwärzla presents itself incredibly velvety and creamy on the tongue and tastes wonderfully intense Raisins dipped in chocolate caress the palate, a full-bodied caramel aroma with beautiful roasted notes and a fine citrus aroma of candied oranges round off the interplay of flavors The beer is surprisingly light on its feet and extremely drinkable thanks to its slender body A fine bitterness complements the luxurious taste, the lively carbonic acid gives the beer additional lightness
An extremely elegant, dark beer with a surprising lightness and a great range of flavors
