More information about Querkerla
The name of this delicious smoked beer is based on a legend that is told around the Staffelberg According to the legend, little gnomes inhabited one of the dark caves of the Staffelberg They were called Querkel and were sought out when people had a mysterious illness, needed help with hard work or good advice Humans and gnomes lived in peaceful harmony and helped each other out The gnomes' help was paid for with delicious Franconian dumplings However, as the little creatures could never get enough of them, it sometimes happened that a gnome stole a dumpling or two from a cooking pot The hard-working farmers' wives tolerated this mouth robbery because they could always rely on the gnomes in return All except one: One fateful day, a stingy cook decided to count out her dumplings from then on and no longer tolerate the thefts The Querkel got wind of this and left their cave to live somewhere else from then on
Because the people of Staffelberg still miss their clever and helpful Querkel to this day, Staffelberg-Bräu has dedicated a fine beer to them: Querkerla is an unfiltered smoked beer that wraps people and gnomes around its finger with its strong, spicy and full-bodied character and enchants with a hint of smoke
