More information about Stone Brewing Hazy IPA

The brewers at Stone Brewing can easily be called the forerunners of the craft beer movement. The pioneers from the West Coast of the U.S. were already brewing craft beer in the '90s and knocked one or two conventional beer drinkers on the head with their hop-stuffed creations.

India Pale Ales were not yet part of the list of known beer styles back then, and hops were still used in moderate, barely perceptible quantities. Stone Brewing put a tasteful end to this quiet activity.

Today, avant-garde brewers are juggling more hops than ever, and their intense brews are only bumping traditionalists over the head. Everyone else enjoys the hop fireworks, the powerful bitterness and the manifold flavor nuances that the Hopheads coax from the cones.

One of their absolute masterpieces is a delightful beer with the simple name Hazy IPA: the richly cloudy beer has a tame 6.7% alcohol content, is a little milder than its crisp bitter counterparts, and is brewed with the hop varieties Sabro, Azacca, and El Dorado.

Although not a single piece of fruit went into the kettle, Stone's Hazy IPA tastes like a cocktail of just that: A tidal wave of juicy, sun-kissed orange meets tangy lemon, ripe melon, golden mango and exotic pineapple. The fruity tsunami washes over the palate with creamy texture and a soft, restrained bitterness.

Stone Brewing

Like all great stories in the craft beer business, Stone Brewing's begins with a passionate beer drinker brewing his own beer at home. Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing's very first brewmaster, gained his first brewing experience in his own kitchen, and it was a twist of fate when he met Greg Koch in 1989. A beer revolution The two beer aficionados drank countless bottles of beer together while making wild plans. One of those plans, to start their own brewery, persisted. Steve and Greg had planned a revolution: Their goal was to free America from the shackles of industrially brewed mass-produced beers - To move away from standard beers and turn to beery works of art from creative minds and bold craft brewers. In 1996, the time had come and the first keg of Stone Brewing's own production was sold. With this step, the two brewers are not only considered legends in the craft beer scene, but...
