Stone Brewing Tangerine Express Hazy IPA

Modesty is a word not found in the repertoire of the exceptional Berlin brewers from Stone Brewing. In the case of their creation Tangerine Express IPA, this is expressed in the list of ingredients: In addition to the fabulous five hop varieties Citra, Centennial, Sterling, Azacca and Mosaic, the brewers use fresh fruit puree of pineapple and tangerine. The result is a tropically fruity cocktail that tastes delightfully fresh of citrus and quite subtly of pineapple.

Stone Brewing's Tangerine Express IPA presents the sunny yellow color of freshly squeezed orange juice in the glass and is equally cloudy. A small amount of airy, white foam sits atop the hazy beer and gives off a heavenly aroma of juicy tangerine and tangy citrus zest. The citrus scent is joined by subtle notes of hoppy herbs and freshly baked cookies. The initial taste is just as hop-driven as you would expect: a crisp hop bitterness unfolds powerfully on the tongue before the fruit spectacle begins. Accompanied by a dominant bitterness, a whole bouquet of diverse citrus notes blossoms on the palate, delighting the taste buds with full-bodied flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange peel and subtle pineapple. A delicate herbal note and a hint of pine resin expertly round out the play of flavors. The finish is neatly bitter and carries notes of grapefruit and tangerine that remain on the tongue for a long time.
