The Fairview Old Vine Project Steen is a pale straw yellow in the glass and impresses with its multi-layered aromas. The nose reveals notes of stone fruit, green pineapple, straw and a gentle, well-integrated influence of oak, which the white wine owes to its ten months of ageing in French oak.
"On the palate, the wine presents itself with aromas of yellow fruit and a fine mineral note. It is fresh, full-bodied and wonderfully balanced by a crisp acidity. The grapes used for the Fairview Old Vine Project Steen come from old vines planted in 1962.
Thanks to the natural sweetness of Chenin Blanc, the Fairview Old Vine Project Steen harmonizes perfectly with dishes that contain sweet and sour elements. Perfect companions are Asian dishes or pork chops with caramelized apple. It is equally impressive with light seafood, pasta, risottos or in combination with goat's cheese.
