More information about FOERSTERs Heide Gin Homegrown
Our FOERSTERs in the homegrown version.
What makes it different? We only use juniper, which grows here in our beautiful Klein Kussewitz. At some point, Martin got tired of mowing the strip of grass next to the hall and quickly planted junipers there (he actually did it himself). Always two girls and one boy.
After a few years, the local juniper bushes bore fruit and every year in late fall we can now harvest a small, modest crop. Great trainee job, by the way ;) But it really is a lot of work (at least two days for harvesting and gleaning) and is only distilled once a year.
The taste is somewhat milder and calmer than the normal FOERSTERs. Our juniper is smaller and doesn't have as much aroma as the Italian berries we usually use. Instead, we have reduced the other botanicals somewhat.
