How is Maennerhobby Wild Sloe produced?
There is hardly a harvest that is as grueling as that of blackthorn. The berries grow on prickly bushes/trees and are tiny and not exactly stable in terms of their annual yield. What's more, the fruits can only be harvested after the frost - otherwise they contain too many tannins. But we think it's worth the effort.
We prepare the collected sloes - from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, by the way - and macerate them in grain alcohol. We add sugar candy, Madagascar vanilla and juice, which we boil out of the sloes. Heavenly!
