The New England hot dog bun is a new way to prepare a sandwich. It is presented in several pieces on a large bun: You're immediately tempted to tear them all apart and enjoy them individually. Then you discover its special shape, which is different from traditional hot dog bread. It is in fact the New England bun, which is cut at the top and then filled.
This sandwich bread became famous thanks to the legendary Lobster Roll. And this is where the story of the New England Mr. Dobelina begins. When I lived in the US (New York to be precise), a friend invited me to try the lobster sandwich in Brooklyn and I was immediately hooked - not only by the taste (the lobster there is heavenly), but also by the uniqueness of this sandwich (its appearance and filling).
MrDobelina's New England Hot Dog Bun weighs 400 grams and can be divided into 5 pieces. The bread tastes like a classic potato bun and is therefore dairy- and egg-free. It is made from potato flakes.
Preparation of the New England bun: Cut the bun halves lengthways at the top, but not all the way through. This is where the filling goes in. Toast the bun halves in a pan with a little butter on both sides beforehand.
You can do almost anything with this American sandwich bread. It is not only the perfect bun for lobster rolls, but also a (better) alternative for hot dogs. It is also ideal for pulled pork or other sandwiches with soft fillings, which are perfectly enclosed between the two halves of this incredibly soft and tasty bun.
