More information about Running Away
Beer style: Fruit beer with apples and grapes
Everyone is talking about cider - literally, as the drink has experienced a real renaissance in recent years The light sparkling wine made from apples has been around for centuries, but only recently has it received the attention it deserves The drink is a skillful combination of sweet and sour fruit notes and captures the essence of the apple wonderfully Nowadays, there are numerous variations that use other types of fruit such as quinces or cherries in addition to apples
Not a cider at all, yet inspired by it, is a creation from the pen of Espiga: the brewers from Barcelona have based their latest beer on the flavors of cider and created a brew that conjures up the fruity acidity and late summer sweetness of freshly harvested apples in your glass
The beer is a Farmhouse Ale and is called Running Away As is usual with cider, wild yeasts were also used for fermentation here: The brewers added white grapes and apples to the beer, to whose skins the wild yeasts adhered and from there passed into the brew The fruit leads the aroma and flavor Bright grapes and apples provide the mild acidity, juicy fruit notes and earthy wood flavors that go perfectly with the spiciness of the yeast
