More information about Orange is my new Love
Oranges are one of the most popular citrus fruits of all You can peel them and eat them as they are or squeeze their juice out You can also prepare a whole range of delicious dishes with them We love the sunny yellow fruits as a salad, for example To do this, we remove the fillets from between the skin and serve them with finely sliced fennel and a vinaigrette of extra virgin olive oil, white balsamic vinegar and honey The whole thing is seasoned with sea salt and freshly ground pepper and is a culinary delight in both summer and winter
No less enjoyable is what the Espiga brewery conjures up from oranges: using sun-kissed, organic fruit from Valencia, less than three hours away, the team brews an unconventional beer that combines the taste of freshly squeezed oranges with gentle hops and wild yeasts
The creation is called Orange Is My New Love and is made from two different musts One is an orange must fermented with lactic acid bacteria and supplemented with freshly squeezed orange juice, the other is a farmhouse must enriched with Cascade hops and fermented with wild yeasts In combination, they produce a fine beer with lively carbonation, a strong 7.0% alcohol content, a complex body and the elegant fruit acidity of freshly harvested oranges
