More information about Rioja Alta Tinto DOC Tinto "Collección Familiar"
Made from Garnacha, Mazuelo & Tempranillo grapes, hand-harvested from old vines, matured for 18 months in French oak barrels which lie in 8-10m deep "calados" (cellars).
Powerful aromas of stewed strawberries & ripe plums meet notes of leather, tobacco & cocoa as well as some cedar, harmonious, smooth with a playful freshness in the finish.
The "Abuelo Cayo Collección Familiar" line is dedicated to the vineyards of the Cayo family's grandfather. It shows the ageing potential and elegance of the original single vineyard sites.

Bodegas Quiroga de Pablo
This traditional bodega was founded by José Quiroga and his wife Bibiana in the mid-19th century, on the edge of the world-famous Way of St. James, in Azofra, Rioja Alta region. José and his son Cayo began to age wines in the stone cellar (El calado), which is eight to ten meters deep. Juan José, who is married to Maria Teresa de Pablo and represents the fifth generation of the family, represents the successful fusion of modern technology and knowledge, as well as experience in winegrowing and ageing. Today, the sixth generation, Juan Luis, Diego and Maite, continue to run the winery with love and passion.
