Steamworks is an international collaboration between two cousins: One is from Canada, the other lives in Germany The two beer lovers decided to bring Canadian beer to Europe and enrich the beer market there with a sip of Canada Their beers are aroma-intensive creations with exciting ingredients such as cucumber or jasmine flowers Not quite as wacky, The copper-colored beer has a strong 5.6% alcohol content and is brewed with four different hop varieties and no less than five flavorful malt variations The result is a malty beer with delicate hop nuances and a crisp bitterness
Heroica flows into the glass in a warm reddish-brown color and is crowned with a fluffy layer of creamy foam The nose combines malty caramel, bitter orange and juicy grapefruit to create a seductive blend The first sip reveals a full-bodied taste with a velvety mouthfeel and a wide variety of powerful malt tones: Roasted notes meet toasted hazelnuts, oven-fresh bread, toffee and creamy caramel The hops contribute a tart bitterness and lend lightness and freshness to the malt symphony with citrus and pine notes

When their grandfather moved from Austria to Canada in the 1930s and his sister stayed behind in Vienna, they had no idea that their two grandsons would one day enter the beer business. It took another two generations before the Austrian-Canadian musical family sprouted a brewer: Eli, who discovered a love of beer during his trip to Europe and learned the brewing trade without further ado, bought the Gastown Brewpub. The venerable building housed a real treasure: a steam heating system. The technique of steam brewing dates back to pioneer days and was rarely practiced by the end of the 20th century.
