Someone called us and said "You...we have a mulberry tree here. Do you want the fruit?".
We first had to ask Google what it was. The tree from which these berries come is designated as a natural monument and is located in Bad Doberan. It was actually planted once so that the leaves could serve as food for the silkworms in the Friedrich Franz train station in Rostock. The caterpillars are gone - the tree is still there. We have the fruit....
The fruits are rather restrained in their aroma - so we use our strawberry spirit as the basis for the preparation. It's really good - with a little dash of blackberry.
