Maisel & Friends

Maisel & Friends

Anyone who drinks craft beer has almost certainly stumbled across this name at some point. Hardly anyone on the scene is as experimental, open, and unbiased as Jeff Maisel, the mastermind behind Maisel & Friends. This must be due to his origins, because Jeff is half American and a Californian beach boy through and through: always in a good mood, ultra friendly and on a first-name basis with everyone. Jeff is the dazzling center of his own brewery and the initiator behind numerous collaboration brews.

Maisel's mission

Jeff is not only a passionate brewer, in addition to brewing outstanding beers, he also wants to be a trailblazer for the craft beer movement in Germany. Creative, flavorful beers of excellent craft quality are to become genuine alternatives to industrially produced beers, and Maisel & Friends is to play a significant role in this quest. In the future, beer lovers should have a varied selection of great beers in every pub, Maisel & Friends wants to contribute strong character craft beers like Jeff's Bavarian Ale or Marc's Chocolate Bock, brewed with love and craft. From friends for friends is the motto Jeff applies to both the beer and working with other brewers. To initiate a craft beer revolution, all craft brewers need to pull together and work together for change. Envy and competitiveness are a horror to Jeff and have no place in the beer business. On the contrary, the broader the range of creative beers on offer, the more exciting the craft beer market is for craft beer novices and interested parties.

With excellence to success

As laid-back and easy-going as Jeff is, he takes the selection of his ingredients very seriously. You could almost say beer serious. Jeff's four musketeers, the fantastic four so to speak, are water, hops, malt and yeast. Since beer is a beverage that is not made from a myriad of ingredients, but only four, these four must be of excellent quality. The water for beer comes from the Fichtelgebirge region and has the advantage that it does not need to be decalcified or otherwise treated; it can be used directly for brewing. Similarly, most of the hops that go into the kettle are regional: Franconian and Bavarian hops from Spalt, Hersbruck and the Hallertau region are the most popular varieties. Some, of course, also come from the U.S. and Australia - the well-traveled hops are primarily aroma hops that grow better in warmer climes than in their Franconian homeland. So you see, Jeff and his friends at Maisel & Friends place a lot of value on what they put in their beer. And rightly so, as their beers like Stefan's Indian Ale or their popular Pale Ale prove.
