More information about Marge's cherry fruit spread
I have always been fascinated by this stone fruit, which usually grows in pairs. There are countless varieties. Starting with the glace cherry, continuing with the morello cherry and the sweet cherry through to the bittersweet Maraschka cherry, which is often used as a cocktail decoration when soaked in sugar water. In Japan, the white-flowered cherry blossom is honored with its own festival. We in Hamburg celebrate the cherry blossom festival with a huge firework display in May. Isn't it wonderful to bite into a plump fresh cherry? Once I start snacking on this fruit, I can't stop. The result is a classic yet delicious creation: cherry.
The taste
Cherries are one of summer's greatest delicacies. Morello cherries are the ideal choice for my spread with whole fruit. They taste like summer in a glass: sweet, juicy, fresh and fruity.
