More information about Mönchsambacher Export
A Franconian classic with cult status
The Zehendner brewery from Mönchsambach doesn't have a huge range: you'll be looking for fancy craft beers and all sorts of bells and whistles for a long time here What they do have, however, is good, down-to-earth Franconian beer of excellent quality Due to the large selection, the Franconians are picky when it comes to their beer There are cellar beers like sand by the sea here, but every Franconian beer drinker knows the unbottled Mönchsambacher Export It is one of the most popular beers and is not only enjoyed in the cathedral city of Bamberg
The Mönchsambacher Export presents itself in a shiny, clear gold in the glass and is crowned by an impressive amount of white foam From the airy head, an enticing aroma of roasted malt, fresh yeast dough, grass clippings, sun-kissed straw and fine citrus fruits rises to the nose The first sip reveals a medium body with gentle carbon dioxide and a wide range of great flavors: Light grain meets warm bread dough, fragrant hay and delicate citrus notes on the tongue A hint of honey elegantly rounds off the interplay of flavors The bitterness is subtly balanced and gives the beer a clear structure The finish is hoppy and tastes like more!
Incidentally, the winking monk holding a beer mug on the label was created by the unforgettable Nuremberg artist and cartoonist Gerd Bauer
