More information about Selection 16/79 Cape Blend 2020
The Selection 16/79 Cape Blend shimmers in a very dark, intense ruby red in the glass. The irresistible combination of red and dark fruits and spices, which the cuvée owes to its grape varieties Pinotage (50%) and Shiraz (50%), already spoils the senses of the connoisseur in the bouquet. Aromas of ripe plums and sweet tobacco with a hint of cedar and cinnamon round off the first impression extremely successful. Full-bodied and soft, the Selection 16/79 Cape Blend caresses the palate and the lively acidity is very pleasant without being obtrusive. The red wine matured for six months in American and Hungarian oak and is perfectly balanced. With its long finish, the Selection 16/79 Cape Blend remains in the memory even after the last sip and is therefore already pure a real treat. The cuvée also accompanies dishes with pasta or dark meat very well. The red wine is part of the Selection 16/79, a collection that recalls the roots of the South African winemaking tradition with distinctive wines, which began with Simon van der Stel, who became governor of the Cape in 1679.
