More information about Stone Brewing Tropic of Thunder Lager
A deserted island far from any civilization and stressors like wifi or telephone reception. Crystal clear, warm water laps lazily over the brilliant white, fine sand. The coconut trees provide cool shade and the tropical sun shines from a cloudless sky. A hammock sways invitingly in the warm breeze and the only sound is the waves gently lapping the shore.
That's about how the guys at Stone Brewing envision the ideal environment in which to enjoy their Tropic of Thunder lager. If you can't afford to travel by plane, just close your eyes and let your excellent beer take you away to paradise for a few precious moments. The lager combines the best aspects of a Pilsner with the exoticism of tropical fruits - a killer combination, let me tell you!
Tropic of Thunder flows into the glass in the clear golden hue of Caribbean sunshine and forms a stately white head. On the nose, the lager presents itself almost as juicy and tropical-fruity as an IPA: light malt meets toasted coconut, sweet pineapple, exotic passion fruit and sun-ripened mango. The Cashmere, Citra and Mosaic hop varieties used not only deliver olfactorically, they also conjure up a whole lot of flavor in the beer. Melon, lime, orange, pineapple and coconut celebrate a wild beach party on the tongue. Only towards the end does a bitterness join in, which wonderfully complements the play of aromas.

Steve and Greg had planned a revolution: Their goal was to free America from the shackles of industrially brewed mass-produced beers - To move away from standard beers and turn to beery works of art from creative minds and bold craft brewers. In 1996, the time had come and the first keg of Stone Brewing's own production was sold. With this step, the two brewers are not only considered legends in the craft beer scene, but...
